twenty two

Okay, you guys all know that I’m a complete nail polish junkie. I LOVE NAIL POLISH!

Around Christmastime I bought this set. <- Clickable link Frankly, I’m a little disappointed. I have worn about 14 of the twenty two and I’m not impressed. Some definitely need more than two coats for total coverage. Some of the metallic ones actually start to peel off. I wore the purple metallic one and after a few days, I could scrape off the purple tint and leave the silver behind.

What I don’t like: Inconsistency in the consistency of the formulas. The metallic foil ones don’t last long or you have to keep putting on top coats to preserve them.

What I do like: As a whole, the set has a lot of nice colors to choose from. If you’re into nail designs, you can obviously do a lot with these. Also, the confetti top coats are really nice. They come off really nicely, too.

Would I recommend this to a friend? Honestly, not really. If they really wanted them, then I’d suggest that they definitely test it out in store instead of just buying online.

Would I buy this again? Probably not unless they were on clearance or I tested them beforehand. When I wear polishes, I really WEAR them. I do a lot with my hands. And these just didn’t last me for as long as some of my other polishes that are cheaper. Individually, these are $10.50. I couldn’t justify buying a whole new bottle for this price when I know that I can get a better quality polish for a cheaper price.

I’ve expanded my collection as well…

Clearly I’m crazy. BUT THEY’RE SO PRETTY!

instant age

I follow a lot of youtube makeup gurus. I’d like to do that someday, but I’m not confident enough yet. One in particular LOVES Maybelline’s Instant Age Rewind Concealer Eraser. <- Clickable link So, the next time I was in a Walmart or Meijer, bought one. didn't much care for it. Recently started using it again. spent my hard earned money on this product, wasn't going to waste Now love just set with setting powder really quick and I'm good go. Only takes minute. What I don’t like:
It’s actually pretty difficult to tell how much product you have coming out. You can’t see it or at least I can’t see it on mine. I have to do about 5 or 6 clicks before I notice a difference when putting it on.

What I do like:
It does a wonderful job of brightening. The sponge on the tip does a nice job of blending it in for you. It doesn’t have an overpowering scent either – that’s always a plus for any product.

Would I recommend this to a friend? Absolutely. It works well and does what it says it will do. It’s not expensive, either.

Would I buy this again? I have a lot of different concealers that I experiment with. This one has a fool proof application that doesn’t create a sticky mess. I would definitely buy this again. It works great if you’re in a hurry and it’s something that you could easily keep in your purse.

Hi, everyone. I’m not sure who reads my blog much anymore since I haven’t really been able to post much. We’re still having complications with my Dad and will be heading into another surgery this Friday. Since mid-April last year we’ve had so many things happen regarding his health and it has been incredibly frustrating. There are many things that I wanted to accomplish in 2013 (10k training completion) and a lot of things got pushed to the back burner while I became a medical advocate for my Dad.

So, that explains my lack of presence on the site, which I completely apologize for.

You all know that I’m a nail polish JUNKIE. And I have added so much more to my collection and I’ll post pictures of that soon. I’ve also been getting into makeup more and learning techniques and if I can ever get things to go the way I’d like, I’d like to attend school to become a professional makeup artist. Until then, I’d like to start sharing with you certain products that I’ve bought (both low end and high end) and share my reviews on them. It’ll be a good way for me to really keep up with my passion and you might be able to ask me questions on products you’re thinking about trying that I might have already tried.

I also got THIS BOOK from my awesome mother-in-law for Christmas and I’ve been learning SO many things about my skin. So, I’ll possibly start sharing with you not just makeup, but skin essential products as well. I have incredibly dry skin and my husband has incredibly oily skin. So, I’ll be able to pull him into the blog for his thoughts on some skin care products that I’m forcing asking him to try out.

Sorry for not posting in a while! I’m bad.

Oh my gosh! Can you believe it? I, Amy, am finally writing a blog post! No need to pinch yourselves because you are NOT dreaming!

Things have been going nonstop with my Dad since April. We’re awaiting another surgery and my life has been a little crazy trying to juggle work, home, running/workouts, and things with my Dad. So this blog has been neglected. *sad face*

Anyway, remember a long time ago when I did this post? Well, I found an even better green for it! So, I did it again – somewhat.

Today’s post features:
Catrice – Miss Piggy’s BF (I’ve linked to the site I bought it from.)
Milani White – (Can be found at most stores like Meijer.)
Kiss Nail Art – Black (Can be found at most stores like Meijer. I know Amazon used to have it.)
Top Coat: Poshe Polish (I’ve linked to where I bought it.)

On most nail blogs people are gaga for Seche Vite top coat and I must admit that I fell into that trap believing it was a good top coat. Then I noticed that part-way through a bottle that it started turning my polishes yellow. My manicurist had the same issue and told me about Poshe and I believe that it works better than Seche Vite.

Sorry for the poor quality of this one. It was with my phone and not in the best lighting.

Pretty awesome, huh!?

I love this green so much that I may even attempt a Yoshi. I’ve sketched it out, but I’m still not sure how to execute it since I have freakishly small nails.

For my next post, I’d like to blog about nail stamping. It’s something that I’m really into right now and I’m still practicing with, but hopefully I’ll have something soon to show you what I’ve been up to nail-wise.

Have a good day!

Today’s post features:
OPI Skull and Glossbones – Base – 2 Coats
OPI Alpine Snow – Accents
Essie – It’s Obvious
Barry M Black
Seche Vite – Top Coat

I wanted to get into the holiday spirit and since all of our snow melted *crosses fingers for Christmas snow* I decided to paint some snowflakes and snowmen on my nails by using some dotting tools.
Cute, huh?

So, my birthday was on November 26th… Brian surprised me by building this…

It’s a rack for my polishes! It doesn’t seem so exciting, but before I had been keeping them in a sterilite container and digging around for a color I wanted. Which meant that once I started painting, I couldn’t really change my mind and dig around for a different color.

(In this picture, I have 155 bottles, not counting nail art paints, and I’ve already added several more to the collection.)

Today’s post features:
Nails Inc. Paddington – Base – 1 coat
Barry M Black
Essie Beyond Cozy
Seche Vite – Top coat
I also used dotting tools.

This is by far one of my favorite manicures. I don’t want to take it off!

Today’s post features:
Color Club Jackie Oh
Barry M Black
Sechvite – Top Coat
(I also used a small piece of a cosmetic sponge.)

This is something I had going around and around in my brain.
I don’t much care for it, but I also don’t really hate it.

What are your thoughts?

Today’s post features:
China Glaze Fast Track – Base – 2 coats
Seche Vite – Top Coat
And topaz accent jewels from THIS set.

I thought I’d do something with the little topaz jewels since it’s now November – which is my birth month. I’ve always liked my birth stone, though it’s not a favorite for most people.

Well, it has been a long time since I’ve done a nail post. I’m horrible. Let’s move on…

Today’s post features:
OPI “If You Moust You Moust” – Base – 2 coats (This is a limited edition from the Minnie Mouse Collection)
Essie Luxeffects “A Cut Above” – Accent Nails – 1 coat
Seche Vite – Top Coat

That’s all for now!
